Please submit one single-spaced paragraph proposal for your research project this semester. The paragraph should discuss your proposed topic and suggest a specific research question you’re considering. Your proposal should include a list of at least two different academic references (i.e., academic journal articles and chapters, and scholarly books) that you have consulted in thinking about your research topic. These references should be properly formatted using APA 7th edition style guide (see the link below). I am very willing to discuss any idea you might have about possible research topics. Just schedule an appointment to talk. Guidelines for topics: 1. The topic must a social science one. It cannot focus strictly on a disease or health problem (e.g., malaria), which would be more appropriate for a biology or pathology course. 2. The topic must be sufficiently narrow to be manageable for a project of this size. For example, ‘stigma’ is too broad a topic for this assignment (or a PhD dissertation), but research on the narrower question of “what factors contribute to the stigmatization of sexually transmitted diseases in China?” would work. 3. As the course satisfies the “Non-Western” general education requirement, when relevant to the research question the topic should focus on populations outside of the United States. Native Americans and first generation migrant populations in the U.S. are the exception.
