Strengths Inventory

Strengths Inventory

Paper 1: Strengths Inventory Description Prompt: What do the best college students do and how will your strengths help you succeed in college? How do you know what your strengths are?

How can you support the existence of strengths in you outside of Gallup’s Strengths Quest? Assignment Details: Write a 3-5 page paper synthesizing the results from the specified data collection listed below. While you will not have a specific “thesis statement,” your paper should be coherently presented so that a strong thesis is implied. The organization of your paper should help highlight your thesis rather than distract from your main themes. The ideas should be supported with specific, citable quotes/details from the Strengths Quest Website (chapter 7 of the online book specifically), personality survey results, interview responses, and personal experience (see data collection section for specific requirements). Remember to include a creative title to your paper. Images/charts that help support your ideas rather than distract from your main point are acceptable, but only if they add to the paper (they do not count for page length). The paper should be 3-5 pages (approximately 750-1200 words),in proper APA/MLA format(for both citations and general guidelines see Writer’s Help for specifications). The paper should be free of all grammatical and spelling errors as these lessen the professionalism of your work. Data Collection Specifications Adapted from Dr. Glyer’s assignment (APU) You must include: All of the following “data collection types”: 1. StrengthsQuest (access codes should be emailed to you—watch for them) 2. An Interview with a close friend, family member, or mentor 3. Color Test • http://colorquiz.com/ You should include at least 3-5 additional tests/data collection, such as an IQ test, a career aptitude test, and so on (appropriate personality comparisons are also welcome—including “Zimbio” quizzes online). If you have taken tests and inventories in the past, you do not need to retake them if you have the results and interpretation of the test. Suggested Questions for Interview with a familiar person: (You do not need to ask all of the questions, nor are you restricted to only one interview. You are also welcome to create your own questions. You will need to blend the answers into your final paper in a smooth, clear way that helps “build an understanding” of who you are.) 1. What is the silliest thing I’ve ever done? 2. Do you agree with the results of one of my personality quizzes? Why? 3. What is the stupidest thing I have ever done? 4. If you had to change 1 thing about me, what would you change? 5. What is the funniest thing I’ve ever done? 6. What does my favorite color say about me? 7. What does my favorite movie say about me? 8. What is my greatest strength? 9. What is your first memory of me? 10. What is the biggest change/transformation you’ve seen in my life? 11. What is one change that no one else would necessarily have noticed? 12. What is one of the greatest memories of us? 13. What is my greatest weakness? 14. What makes me unique? 15. What sound describes me? What color describes me? What food best describes me? 16. What song should be my theme song? 17. If you could control my future, what would my life look like? 18.
